Eating Corndogs at Little Five Points

Girls eating corndogsDespite the fact that it rained for much of the day on Saturday throngs of people showed up to enjoy the festivities and Halloween Parade at Little Five Points. This image embodies the quirkiness of this district in Atlanta. Although it may appear that the above image is composed of two separate shots, this is not the case. These two girls were standing at the intersection of two conjoined buildings.

    Beate,

This is a magnificent picture. How did you get it…were they posing or did you get a candid shot? It deserves a Pulitzer prize!

    • Congratulations Dad for posting a comment on my blog for the first time! I think this is a great image too but you may be a bit biased. It’s okay. I never tire of your compliments.

I’ve always wanted to try a corn dog.
Her hair matches the color of the corn dog…and the sweater too I guess.

    • I have not eaten a corn dog since I was a kid. I have a feeling that I would not find it as appetizing as I had 40 years ago. Thanks for reading my blog!

This is a very subtle but complex photo. Isolation and commonality, side by side! Well down Beate.

    • I did not see the richness of this photo until I had seen it on my computer screen and then thought about it for a day. One of the other things I did not notice immediately was that one girl was white and the other black and the contrasting/opposing backgrounds for each girl. This is what I love about photography. One is often unaware of the nuances of a picture when the shutter is being released. Thanks again for your insightful comment Rick.

What a wonderful photo. Such interesting contrasts in the backgrounds. Each young woman looks like she’s in her own world, quite enjoying her corn dog. Were they really standing right next to each other?
